1888 N72 Duke "Coins of All Nations” Complete Set (50)
Starting Bid - $200, Sold For - $420
Complete set of fifty 1888 N72 Duke "Coins of All Nations” cards. Magnificent complete set of this classic nineteenth-century nonsport tobacco-card set. Issued with Duke's Cigarettes, each card features a colorful illustration (with tremendous and very comical graphics!) of a coin and person in native costume from one of fifty different countries represented. The countries are checklisted on the back of the cards. Condition of this complete set ranges from Vg to Ex (averaging Vg-Ex); however, approximately one-third of the cards have small flaws on the reverse, such as pencil notations, paper loss, or album residue, which would cause them to grade more modestly. Duke's "Coins of All Nations" are rarely offered as a complete set, and are highly prized by both coin collectors and nineteenth-century nonsport tobacco-card collectors. Total: 50 cards. Reserve $200. Estimate (open). SOLD FOR $420
