1889 N8 Allen & Ginter "Fish from American Waters" SGC-Graded Near-Complete Set (43/50)

Starting Bid - $300, Sold For - $480

Near-complete set of 1889 Allen & Ginter "Fish from American Waters" cards consisting of forty-three cards (out of fifty), all graded and encapsulated by SGC (submitted by REA). This is a very attractive set, and while condition spans multiple grades, many of the lesser-graded cards still present beautifully, with flaws only on the reverse. In the following condition composite, cards are identified by the numbers provided by the American Tobacco Cards Price Guide checklist. The SGC grades are as follows: Two NM 84: #12 and 33. Three EX/NM 80: #4, 6, and 42. Four EX+ 70: #14, 17, 25, and 29. Nine EX 60: #3, 11, 13, 16, 20, 27, 28, 35, and 36. Three VG/EX+ 55: #22, 43, and 45. Four VG+ 45: #2, 34, 37, and 49. Two VG 40: #7 and 44. One GOOD+ 35: #40. Three GOOD 30: #10, 24, and 31. Four FAIR 20: #5, 8, 38, and 48. One POOR 10: #46. Seven Authentic: #1, 9, 19, 21, 30, 32, and 47. This is a rarely offered and very attractive nineteenth-century nonsport tobacco-card near-complete set, which would be a worthy addition to any nonsport-card collection. Total: 43 cards.  Reserve $300. Estimate $500+. SOLD FOR $480
