1889 N14 Allen & Ginter "General Government and State Capitol Buildings of the United States" Near-Complete Set (41/50)

Starting Bid - $200, Sold For - $300

Near-complete set of N14 Allen & Ginter "General Government and State Capitol Buildings of the United States" consisting of forty-one different cards out of fifty in a complete set. This is a very attractive near-complete set of these rare and extremely condition-sensitive gold-border tobacco cards (similar to the T205 Gold Borders baseball series). Condition is Vg to Vg-Ex, with four lesser, when viewed from the front; however, twelve cards have small pencil notations or areas of paper loss on the reverse, which would cause them to grade more modestly. Issued with Allen & Ginter's Cigarettes, these cards feature magnificent full-color illustrations of different government and capitol buildings throughout the United States, including the White House and Patent Office examples. This is an extremely attractive grouping of cards from this issue, which is highly prized by nineteenth-century nonsport tobacco-card collectors. Total: 41 cards.  Reserve $200. Estimate (open). SOLD FOR $300
