Signed Boxing-Book Collection (6) Including Muhammad Ali

Collection of six boxing books, each signed by the author, including Jack Dempsey, Gene Tunney, and Muhammad Ali. Unless otherwise noted, all are hardcover first editions with dust jackets. 1) Battling Nelson by Oscar "Battling" Nelson (self-published, Hegewisch, Illinois, 1909). Second printing. Inscribed in green ink (grading "8") on the front flyleaf: "With Best Wishes/Tom My Old Friend/Joseph H. Stephan/Compliments Author/Battling Nelson/Mayor Hegenwisch Ill/Feb 22, 1922." Nelson was a Danish boxer who was a former lightweight champion. 265 pages. No dust jacket. Gd, with heavy wear to the covers. 2) Physical Energy by Bombardier Billy Wells (T. Werner Laurie, LTD., London, 1923). Inscribed in black fountain pen ("9") on the front flyleaf: "To Dr. Mamish/with compliments/from Bombardier Billy Wells/1923." Wells was a former British heavyweight champion and, in 1911, became the first heavyweight to win the Lonsdale Belt. 153 pages. No dust jacket. Vg-Ex, with light foxing on some of the interior pages. 3) Round-by-Round by Jack Dempsey (McGraw-Hill Book Company, New York, 1940). Inscribed in blue ink ("10") on the front flyleaf: "To H. Tatnall Brown Jr./Best of Luck/from Jack Dempsey 9/24/40." 283 pages. Book: Ex-Mt, with a former owner's bookplate on the interior. Dust jacket: Ex. 4) Arms for Living by Jack Tunney (Wilfred Funk, Inc., New York, 1941). Signed by Tunney in blue ink ("10") on the dedication page. 279 pages. Book: Ex-Mt. Dust jacket: Vg. 5) Nat Fleischer's All-Time Ring Record Book by Nat Fleischer (O'Brien Suburban Press, Norwalk, Connecticut, 1941). Inscribed in black fountain pen ("10") on the front flyleaf: "To Dr. Renfro/Dear Dr. Renfro/I hope you will find/much of interest in this book/Sincerely/Nat Fleischer." Nat Fleischer was the editor of Ring magazine and this was an annual compendium. 548 pages. No dust jacket. Ex-Mt. 6) The Greatest by Muhammad Ali with Richard Durham (Random House, New York, 1975).
