1909 T204 Ramly Tobacco Jesse Burkett
Starting Bid - $300, Sold For - $3,000
Presented is one of the key Hall of Famers from the prized T204 Ramly series: Jesse Burkett. Burkett is one of only fifteen Hall of Famers in the Ramly Tobacco set. In addition to being one of the most important cards in the Ramly set, this is arguably the most majestic of the very few cards ever issued of Jesse Burkett. Burkett's career spanned sixteen years (1890-1905). During his career he batted over .400 three times, a feat duplicated only by Ty Cobb and Rogers Hornsby. After leaving the Major Leagues, Burkett owned and managed the Worcester club of the New England League (the team with which he is featured on this card), from 1906 to 1913, making regular appearances in the outfield until he was 45. Graded PR-FR 1 by PSA due to a variety of condition flaws, including creasing and surface wear along with a small purple stain on the reverse. A relatively affordable example of one of the great 1910-era Hall of Fame tobacco cards and one of the most important cards from this beautiful and extremely condition-sensitive set. Reserve $300. Estimate $500+. SOLD FOR $3,000
