1970s Topps Basketball Unopened Wax Box Collection (3 boxes)

Starting Bid - $200, Sold For - $1,560

Collection of three complete original unopened wax boxes from two different late 1970s Topps basketball issues. Each box comes from a very old-time collection consigned to this auction and has been carefully saved by the owner since the year of issue. 1) 1978-1979 Topps Basketball Wax Box: Thirty-six packs, all in Ex-Mt or better condition except for a few with tiny tears at the edges (likely caused by shifting gum). This set is highlighted by Hall of Famers Dennis Johnson (rookie), George Gervin, Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, Pete Maravich, and Julius Erving, among others. All the other stars of the day are also included. The display box is bright and clean, with moderate shelf wear visible at the corners and in spots on the top panel. 2-3) 1979-1980 Topps Basketball Wax Boxes: Each box houses thirty-six packs for a total of seventy-two wax packs, ranging in grade from Ex to Nr/Mt. This set is highlighted by Hall of Famers George Gervin, Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, Pete Maravich, and Julius Erving, among others. All the other stars of the day are also included. The display boxes are bright and clean, with moderate shelf wear visible at the corners. The top panel of one box has been popped out as intended. While it is impossible to provide guarantees with reference to grading of unopened material, there is, of course, the very real possibility that within these boxes are high-grade cards of the numerous stars and Hall of Famers within each set. A very desirable trio of complete wax boxes from these two popular basketball issues! Total: 3 boxes, 108 packs.  Reserve $200. Estimate $500+. SOLD FOR $1,560
