Starting Bid - $300, Sold For - $1,440
Complete original unopened wax box of 1979 Topps football. The box houses thirty-six packs with each pack containing ten cards, for a total of 360 cards. This box comes from a very old-time collection consigned to this auction and has been carefully saved by the owner since the year of issue. The 1979 Topps set features rookie cards of Hall of Famers Earl Campbell, James Lofton, and Ozzie Newsome, as well as numerous other stars and Hall of Famers, including Terry Bradshaw, Walter Payton, and Roger Staubach. While it is impossible to provide guarantees with reference to grading of unopened material, there is, of course, the very real possibility that within this box are Mint or Gem Mint cards of these stars, as well as many other top players of the day. This box comes shrink-wrapped by Baseball Card Exchange (owned by Steve Hart, the foremost expert on unopened material). The store display box features bright colors and minor shelf wear, including light creasing on the side panel and wear at the joints. A superb unopened wax box from this popular 1970s football issue. Total: 36 packs. Reserve $300. Estimate $500+. SOLD FOR $1,440
