Helmar Brewing Company Art Cards: Modern Collector-Issue Classics
Collection of forty-eight "Big League Brew" cards issued by the Helmar Brewing Company. This issue, which is similar in style to R319 Goudey cards, is one of Helmar's most popular sets and, in keeping with the company's tradition, includes not only Hall of Fame and non Hall of Fame players, but also Negro League stars, Japanese players, and even House of David team members. The set began production in 2010 and new additional cards are still being issued today! Series 3 cards (# 241-320) can be easily identified with tag line on the reverse that reads "This is one of a series of 320 Baseball Stars." The collection is comprised of the following cards: 250 Addie Joss, 251 Roger Peckinpaugh, 252 Ed Delehanty, 253 Schoolboy Rowe, 254 Lefty O'Doul, 255 Hal Newhouser, 256 Del Pratt, 257 Dave Williams, 258 Harry Heilmann, 259 Bobo Newsome, 260 Travis Jackson, 261 Sandy Koufax, 262 Art Nehf, 263 Babe Herman, 264 Dizzy Trout, 265 Bob Veach, 266 Warren Spahn, 267 Joe Sewell, 268 Rizzuto & Coleman, 269 Johnny Martin, 270 Enos Slaughter, 271 Rudy York, 272 Hippo Vaughn, 273 Bob Johnson, 274 Sam Jones, 275 Tommy Bridges, 276 Charlie Root, 277 George Uhle, 278 Dazzy Vance, 279 Arky Vaughan, 280 Hilton Smith, 281 Sam Crawford, 282 Thomas Romanach, 283 Augustin Molina, 284 Jesse "Nip" Winters, 285 Edgar Wesley, 286 Francis "Weasel" Warfield, 287 Clint Thomas, 288 Bienvenido "Hooks" Jimenez, 289 Armando Marsans, 290 Miguel Gonzales, 291 Pedro Cepeda, 292 Larry Brown, 293 Richard "Cannonball" Redding, 294 Vic Harris, 295 Ernest "Blimp" Phelps, 296 Frank Crosetti, and 297 Kiki Cuyler. As a point of reference, it should be noted that in sirraffles' most recent individual eBay auctions for the forty-eight cards in this collection, the cumulative sale total was in excess of $2,200. Like all of the Helmar issues, these cards were intentionally produced with a distressed look, with most having rounded corners and rubbed edges. Near Mint condition overall. Total: 48 cards. Reserve $300. Estimate (open). SOLD FOR $1,560
