Brooklyn Dodgers Players Pin Collection (45)
Starting Bid - $500, Sold For - $1,320
Collection of forty-five Brooklyn Dodgers stadium pins, most dating from the 1940s and 1950s, each featuring an individual portrait image of a Dodgers player. Included here are a circa 1947 "I'm Rooting For Jackie Robinson" pin (1.25 inches in diameter) and four stadium pins (Campanella, Cox, Hodges, and Snider) which are checklisted as PM10 stadium pins and are particularly rare, but which we have always believed were produced in the 1970s (whenever they were issued, they are highly regarded, clearly a set unto themselves, and this is no doubt related to their rarity). Thirteen of the pins include a ribbon and/or charm. The vast majority measure 1.75 inches in diameter, with just seven measuring slightly smaller (between .875 and 1.25 inches in diameter). The players represented here, with the number of pins for each player (if more than one) noted in parentheses, are Jackie Robinson, Roy Campanella (5), Duke Snider (5), Gil Hodges (7), Pee Wee Reese (5), Joe Black (3), Junior Gilliam, Sal Maglie, Carl Furillo (3), Don Newcombe (2), Billy Cox (2), Preacher Roe, Andy Pafko, Dolph Camilli, Pete Reiser, Dixie Walker, Whitlow Wyatt, Johnny Podres, Karl Spooner, Sandy Amoros, and Carl Erskine, Conditions range from Good to Near Mint, averaging Ex-Mt. All of the pins can be viewed on our website. Total: 45 pins. Reserve $500. Estimate $1,000+. SOLD FOR $1,320
