1955 New York Yankees World Series Printer's Proof Ticket Sheet
Starting Bid - $200, Sold For - $300
1955 New York Yankees World Series printer's proof ticket sheet, comprised of full ticket examples for Game 1, Game 2, Game 6, Game 7, and Game "X." This proof sheet, which is the only example we have ever seen for 1955 New York Yankees World Series tickets, is unique in that it features an onionskin overlay with red printing on the foundation sheet with black printing, which together (red on top of black) create the complete proof ticket sheet, rather than the more commonly seen finished proofs printed on cardboard. This is a fascinating and unique proof ticket sheet that was obviously integral to the production of the issued tickets. The 1955 World Series, of course, marked the Brooklyn Dodgers' only World Championship while in Brooklyn, making this both a rare and historically significant souvenir from that memorable fall classic, and one that should appeal to both Yankees and Dodgers collectors alike. The bottom sheet (9.75 x 14 inches), which is slightly larger than the top sheet, displays a horizontal fold and a few tiny areas of light discoloration. In Excellent condition overall. Both sheets are matted by means of adhesive along the front of the top border, and, in the case of the bottom sheet only, by tape at the reverse of the top and bottom borders. Matted to total dimensions of 15 x 18.5 inches. Reserve $200. Estimate (open). SOLD FOR $300
