1946 Montreal Royals Program - Jackie Robinson's First Season in Organized Baseball!
Starting Bid - $200, Sold For - $360
1946 Montreal Royals program dating from Jackie Robinson's historic first season in organized baseball. The nineteen-page program, which is not scored, was issued for a game against Rochester and lists Robinson batting second and playing second base for the Royals. Robinson's current average of .350 is listed next to his name. Despite all of the hardships endured by Robinson during his first season with Montreal, including overt bigotry by both opponents and teammates alike, his performance on the field never wavered. Robinson finished the season with a league-leading .349 average and was named the league MVP at season's end. The program (6.75 x 10 inches) displays a light center fold, minor discoloration on the back cover, and oxidation to the staples. In Very Good condition.
