Extremely attractive complete set of E95 Philadelphia Caramel consisting of all twenty-five cards, highlighted by ten Hall of Famers, including by Ty Cobb, Honus Wagner, Christy Mathewson, and Eddie Plank. Each card has been graded and encapsulated by SGC. This set currently ranks fifth on the SGC Set Registry, with an overall GPA of 43.00. SGC Condition Report: One EX+ 70: Hoffman. Four EX 60: Chance (HOF), Collins (HOF), Mathewson (HOF), and Plank (HOF). Two VG/EX+ 55: Evers (HOF) and Willetts. One VG/EX 50: McIntyre. Two VG+ 45: Bender (HOF) and Wiltse. Six VG 40: Cobb (HOF), Devlin, Doyle, Krause, Leach, and Merkle. Five GOOD+ 35: Cicotte (Black Sox), Morgan, Reulbach, Wagner (HOF), and Willis (HOF). Two GOOD 30: Lord and Maddox. Two FAIR 20: Carrigan and Crawford (HOF). This 25-card set was issued in 1909 by the Philadelphia Caramel Co. of Camden, New Jersey. The E95 set was almost certainly inspired by the great success that tobacco companies were having with their cards. This set is of special significance in that the E95 artwork was not reissued by other manufacturers, a practice that was so widespread with other “E” card issues. The designs used in E95 are unique to the set. These cards have a very distinctive look to them and the artwork is definitely a cut above that used by their rivals of the time. Due to the thin stock on which they are printed, E95 Philadelphia Caramel cards are rarely found in high grade. This complete set is in tremendously consistent grade with all cards presenting with bright colors and crisp images, and is one of the most attractive complete sets of one of the era's most popular issues that we have ever offered. This is an outstanding set! The equivalent SMR value for the assigned grades (factoring in the twelve half-grades at the lower whole-grade level) is $11,265. Total: 25 cards.  Reserve $2,500. Estimate $5,000/$10,000. SOLD FOR $10,800
