Joe Medwick Single-Signed Ball - Original Family Provenance!

Starting Bid - $300, Sold For - $1,659

Spalding official Texas League (Bragan) ball signed by Hall of Fame outfielder Joe "Ducky" Medwick. Medwick has signed the ball in blue ink across the sweet spot, with the signature grading "8." This ball, which is a game-used example, was obtained by our consignor's father at an Arkansas Travelers game sometime around 1971 and it has remained in the family's possession since that time. He was lucky enough to snag a foul ball during the game and then had Medwick sign it for him afterwards. The Travelers were a St. Louis Cardinals AA affiliate and Medwick was present in his capacity as the club's roving minor-league hitting instructor at the time. Medwick was elected to the Hall of Fame in 1968 and died in 1975. As a result, Hall of Fame autograph collectors only had a short seven-year window in which to obtain his signature. For that reason, Medwick single-signed balls, which have always been the ideal, are extremely scarce today. The ball displays minor soiling and a few abrasions that are consistent with game use, but all of the manufacturer's stampings remain bold. In Very Good condition overall. LOA from James Spence/JSA. Reserve $300. Estimate $1,000+. SOLD FOR $1,659
