Circa 1957 Joe DiMaggio Single-Signed PCL Ball

Starting Bid - $200, Sold For - $474

Official Pacific Coast League (O'Connor) ball signed by Joe DiMaggio across the sweet spot. DiMaggio's signature has been scripted in vintage blue ink and grades "7." Leslie O'Connor, whose stamped facsimile signature appears on a side panel, was president of the Pacific Coast League from 1956 to 1959, which indicates that DiMaggio most likely signed the ball during that time period. DiMaggio began his professional career with the San Francisco Seals of the PCL before his contract was purchased by the Yankees in 1936. This is the first DiMaggio single-signed PCL ball we have ever offered and, especially given its vintage status, one that is a particularly rare and desirable example as well. Almost all DiMaggio single-signed balls date to the 1980s and 1990s. Earlier examples such as this are rare and far more highly prized by most collectors than more modern examples. The ball is lightly toned and remains in Excellent to Mint condition. Together with its original box (Gd, missing two of the top flaps). LOA from James Spence/JSA. Reserve $200. Estimate $400+. SOLD FOR $474
