Circa 1953 National League All-Star Team-Signed Ball (9 Hall of Famers)
Starting Bid - $400, Sold For - $2,252
Official National League (Giles) ball signed in blue ink by the following twenty individuals: Rogers Hornsby, Leo Durocher, Stan Musial, Duke Snider, Pee Wee Reese, Ralph Kiner, Robin Roberts, Eddie Mathews, Warren Spahn, Ted Kluszewski, Curt Simmons, Chuck Dressen, Bobby Thomson, Steve O'Neill (sweet spot), Eddie Stanky (sweet spot), Charely Grimm, Murray Dickson, Fred Haney, Sal Maglie, and one other (illegible). Signatures range from "8" to "10," averaging "9." Although this ball can not be conclusively attributed to any particular team, the multitude of stars present here probably indicates it was signed at an All-Star Game. Dickson only appeared in the 1953 All-Star Game, where he was joined on the roster by nine other players represented here, hence the circa 1953 All-Star Game designation. Regardless of its origin, it remains an outstanding 1950s-era signed ball featuring nine Hall of Famers. The ball displays only light toning and is in Excellent to Mint condition overall. LOA from James Spence/JSA. Reserve $400. Estimate $800/$1,200. SOLD FOR $2,252
