1953 Cy Young Signed 3x5 Cards (2 Examples) with Original Mailing Envelope!

Starting Bid - $500, Sold For - $2,666

Two lined index cards (5 x 3 inches), each beautifully signed in blue fountain pen (grading "9/10") by Hall of Fame pitcher Cy Young. These two cards have a particularly outstanding provenance! They were originally obtained decades ago by our consignor's husband, a lifelong autograph collector, who, starting in his teens, began the practice of writing players to ask for their autographs. They have remained in the family's sole possession since the day they were acquired. Ideally, the cards are accompanied by the original mailing envelope (6.25 x 3.5 inches; Ex-Mt), postmarked September 3, 1953, from Newcomerstown, Ohio. (Young died just two years later, on November 4, 1955.) Each card remains in Near Mint condition. Total: 2 signed index cards. LOA from James Spence/JSA. Reserve $500. Estimate $2,000+. SOLD FOR $2,666
