The Jackie Robinson Story Signed by Jackie and Rachel Robinson!

Starting Bid - $500, Sold For - $2,370

First edition of The Jackie Robinson Story by Arthur Mann (Grosset & Dunlap, New York, 1950), signed on the front flyleaf by both Jackie Robinson and his wife, Rachel Robinson. Each signature is flawlessly scripted in blue ink and grades "10." An additional blue-ink notation, which appears to be in the hand of a child, has been scripted at the base of the front flyleaf and reads "Jackie Robinson." While we have seen signed examples of Robinson's autobiography, we cannot recall the last time we saw another autographed copy of this biography by Arthur Mann. Mann was Branch Rickey's assistant with the Dodgers at the time of Robinson's signing and therefore was more than qualified to recount Robinson's life story. The 224-page hardbound volume is complete with its original dust jacket. The book remains in Excellent condition. The dust jacket, which has been affixed to the book by means of clear tape on both interior covers, displays a number of minor tears and chips, and is in Very Good condition overall. LOA from James Spence/JSA. Reserve $500. Estimate $1,000+. SOLD FOR $2,370
