1946 Ty Cobb Signed Check

Starting Bid - $200, Sold For - $830

Ty Cobb personal check dated September 16, 1946, and drawn on The First National Bank of Reno. The check is made payable to "Cash" (stamped endorsement of "Young's Bijou Lodge" on the reverse) and is signed by "Tyrus R. Cobb" in black fountain pen ("6/7"). The check (8.25 x 3 inches) has normal bank cancellation holes and stamps, three vertical folds (one of which runs through Cobb's signature), and a few light creases. In Very Good condition overall. While there are many Cobb checks (he saved everything and his family made literally hundreds of checks available after his passing, in exchange for a donation to the Cobb Educational Foundation, a charity that helps underprivileged children), a Cobb check is always a classic that provides his signature in a form that is very substantial and ideal for display, and will always be a highly prized addition to any advanced autograph collection. LOA from James Spence/JSA. Reserve $200. Estimate $400/$600. SOLD FOR $830
