Vintage Cut-Signature Collection with Honus Wagner, two Mel Ott, Turkey Stearnes, and 50+ Additional Hall of Famers (117)
Starting Bid - $500, Sold For - $4,740
This vintage autograph collection, which dates mainly from the 1940s, was personally compiled by our consignor's father and has remained in the family's possession since that time. This substantial original-owner collection includes many highlights! A total of 136 signatures, representing 124 different players, are featured in the collection, including those of fifty-nine Hall of Famers (representing fifty different players). Highlights include Mel Ott (twice), Honus Wagner, Turkey Stearnes, Joe DiMaggio, Gabby Hartnett, Hank Greenberg, and Ray Schalk. Most of the signatures are in the form of cuts, the majority of which are housed in a vintage autograph album. Unless otherwise noted, the signatures range in grade from "8" to "10," with most having been executed in blue or black fountain pen (a few in pencil).
Autograph album (77 signatures). All but nine of the signatures appear alone on a cut or slightly larger piece of stationery. A few are personalized. Each item has been affixed (by means of adhesive) to its respective album page.
