1930 New York Yankees Team-Signed Ball with Ruth and Gehrig

Starting Bid - $200, Sold For - $1,778

Official American League (Barnard) ball signed in black fountain pen by twenty-two members of the 1930 New York Yankees, including Ruth (sweet spot; "2"), Dickey, Lazzeri, Ruffing, Gomez, Combs, Wells, Hollaway, Hargrave, Chapman, Johnson, Pipgras, Bengough, Sherid, Cooke, Lary, and McEvoy. The Gehrig signature on the ball has been deemed a "clubhouse" version by JSA. The remaining four signatures are faded/illegible. Signatures range from "1" to "4," averaging "2." Relatively affordable (compared to higher-grade examples) 1930s Yankee team balls, especially those including Ruth, are understandably always extremely popular with collectors. The ball is heavily toned, with a number of minor abrasions, but all of the manufacturer's stampings remain legible. In Good condition. LOA from James Spence/JSA. Reserve $200. Estimate $400+. SOLD FOR $1,778
