Grover Alexander Signed 1939 Baseball Centennial First-Day Cover (PSA/DNA MINT 9)
Starting Bid - $500, Sold For - $1,896
1939 Baseball Hall of Fame first-day cover signed in black fountain pen by Grover Alexander. Encapsulated by PSA/DNA, with the signature graded MINT 9. The envelope bears a "Jun 12, 1939, Cooperstown N.Y." postmark and a three-cent Baseball Centennial stamp. Alexander was one of the eleven living players inducted into the Hall of Fame at the 1939 dedication ceremonies, but he passed away just eleven years later. As a result, his signature on Hall of Fame first-day covers is both rare and highly desirable. The envelope (6.5 x 3.5 inches) displays the number "100" written lightly in pencil along the top border, as well as a few pencil notations on the reverse. Addressed and mailed. In Excellent condition overall. LOA from James Spence/JSA. Reserve $500. Estimate $1,000+. SOLD FOR $1,896
