1921 Grover Alexander Signed Exhibit Card

Starting Bid - $500, Sold For - $2,963

1921 Exhibit card of Hall of Fame pitcher Grover Alexander; flawlessly signed by Alexander ("G C Alexander") across his image in vintage black fountain pen (grading "10"). The card, issued by the Exhibit Supply Company of Chicago, Illinois., pictures Alexander warming up on the sidelines as a member of the Chicago Cubs. Ideally, Alexander's signature has been scripted vertically across his image, allowing for perfect contrast against the white background of his uniform. The card (3.25 x 5.25 inches) has a tack hole at the top border, a tiny amount of surface paper loss in the top and bottom right corners, and light, overall wear. In Very Good condition. Alexander passed away in 1950 and his signature is rarely found on vintage Exhibit cards. This is an outstanding high-grade signature example and one that would make a fine addition to any signed vintage-card or advanced Hall of Fame autograph collection. LOA from James Spence/JSA. Reserve $500. Estimate $1,000++. SOLD FOR $2,963
