1957 Topps #55 Ernie Banks PSA GEM MINT 10 - 1 of 1!

Starting Bid - $2,500, Sold For - $10,073

Graded GEM MINT 10 by PSA. This is the ONLY example ever to be graded at this level from among 1,972 cards evaluated by PSA to date. Unbelievably high grade #55 Ernie Banks from the 1957 Topps set. This card is a pack-fresh blazer! Perfectly centered all around, with four sharp corners, brilliant colors, and flawless registration. Entirely crisp and clean, both front and back. Reviewing the PSA Population Report best allows us to communicate exactly how impressive a grade of GEM MINT is on this card. Fewer than one-tenth of one percent of all 1957 Topps cards submitted to PSA have ever achieved this grade. For all 1957 Topps cards, there are only 179 GEM MINT 10s out of an incredible 214,564 cards graded to date. Attaining a perfect grade on a key Hall of Famer such as Ernie Banks is all the more extraordinary. We can count on one hand the number of GEM MINT 10 cards from the 1950s that we have ever sold prior to this auction (four!). It is hard for us to even estimate the value of this card, especially since SMR does not provide a value for 1957 Topps cards in GEM MINT condition, but we are confident that the auction process will establish the true market value of this outstanding gem. This is an extremely rare opportunity to acquire a miraculous GEM MINT example, which would be a tremendous addition to any 1957 Topps or Ernie Banks collection! Reserve $2,500. Estimate (open). SOLD FOR $10,073
