1971 Topps Rack Packs GAI-Graded Pair (2)
Starting Bid - $400, Sold For - $1,541
Outstanding pair of original unopened rack packs from the 1971 Topps baseball series, each graded and encapsulated NM-MT+ 8.5 by GAI. Each pack houses fifty-four cards as well as two additional cards which have been inserted in the header position and punched at the top to allow for hanging at retailers. 1971 Topps are especially condition-sensitive, as the black flush-to-the-border design of the set makes them particularly susceptible to corner and edge wear. Each of these rack packs presents in exceptionally impressive condition. One rack pack is from the third series (notable stars in this series include Brooks Robinson, Ted Williams, and Steve Garvey RC) and the other is from the fifth series (notable stars in this series include Roberto Clemente, Willie Mays, Carl Yastrzemski, and Ernie Banks). While no guarantees can be made with respect to the grading of unopened material, there is, of course, the possibility that within these packs are high-grade examples of these stars and many other cards. This is a superb pair of original unopened rack packs from one of the most popular and condition-sensitive of all 1970s Topps issues. Total: 2 rack packs. Reserve $400. Estimate $1,000++.
