1960 Topps Near-Complete Set (569/572)

Starting Bid - $300, Sold For - $1,422

14% Ex-Mt, 47% Ex, 24% Vg-Ex, and 15% Vg (including a few lesser). Outstanding mid-grade near-complete set consisting of 569 (out of 572) 1960 Topps cards. Missing only #67, 316 McCovey RC, and 490 F. Robinson for completion. The rookie cards of Hall of Famers Carl Yastrzemski and Willie McCovey (missing from this near-complete set) highlight the 1960 Topps issue, which was Topps’ last horizontal issue. Many of the biggest stars in the set, including Mantle, Mays, and Aaron, appear in the set more than once due to the All-Star card series. Mantle actually has three cards in this set, as he also appears on the #160 "Rival All-Stars" card with Ken Boyer. Many of the lesser-graded cards are downgraded solely due to wear at the corners but present with strong colors and crisp images otherwise. Keys: #1 Wynn (Ex), 7 Master and Mentor (Ex-Mt), 10 Banks (Gd), 18 Dodgers Team (Vg-Ex+), 28 B. Robinson (Vg-Ex+), 35 Ford (Gd), 50 Kaline (pencil on back, otherwise Vg-Ex), 73 Gibson (Ex), 148 Yastrzemski RC (Vg-Ex+), 160 Mantle/Boyer (Ex+), 200 Mays (Gd/Vg), 210 Killebrew (Vg-Ex+), 250 Musial (Ex+), 295 Hodges (Vg-Ex), 300 Aaron (Vg), 326 Clemente (Vg-Ex+), 332 Yankees Team (checklist marked, otherwise VG), 343 Koufax (no bottom border, otherwise Ex-Mt), 350 Mantle (Vg), 377 Maris (Vg-Ex+), 420 Mathews (Vg-Ex+), 445 Spahn (Vg-Ex+), 475 Drysdale (Ex+), 480 Berra (no top border, otherwise Vg-Ex), 493 Snider (signed, no bottom border, otherwise Ex-Mt), 554 McCovey AS (Vg-Ex+), 563 Mantle AS (Vg), 564 Mays AS (Ex-Mt), 565 Maris AS (Ex-Mt), and 566 Aaron AS (Ex). Complete 1960 Topps sets show up with far less frequency than many other sets from the era. This is an attractive and crisp mid-grade set, and in addition to all the special cards and scarce high-numbers (#507-572), it is loaded with Hall of Famers and stars from the 1960s. Total: 569 cards. Reserve $300. Estimate $500/$1,000+. SOLD FOR $1,422
