1969 N.Y. Boy Scouts SGC-Graded Pair: Jones and Stottlemyre

Starting Bid - $200, Sold For - $415

Exceptional high-grade pair of cards from the scarce 1969 N.Y. Boy Scouts issue featuring Cleon Jones and Mel Stottlemyre. This set, which was produced by the Boy Scouts as a recruitment tool, rewarded members who encouraged their friends to join the Boy Scouts. The reverse reads "By bringing a new boy into Scouting, you have joined the GO team for 1969. Congratulations!" The facsimile signature of the Council Commissioner is underneath. These cards, which feature hometown New York Mets and Yankees heroes, were regionally issued and are extremely rare. Only twenty-four examples in total have been graded from this set by PSA and SGC combined. According to the Standard Catalog, nine different players in the set are known to date (though others may yet be discovered). Each card is graded and encapsulated as NM+ 86 by SGC. This is an outstanding high-grade pair from this rarely-encountered set. Total: 2 cards. Reserve $200. Estimate (open). SOLD FOR $415
