1887 N172 Old Judge Charles Comiskey - Brown's Champions

Starting Bid - $400, Sold For - $948

Graded EX-MT 6 (MK) by PSA. Hall of Famer Charles Comiskey, the key card from the classic 1886 Brown's Champions set, which features portraits of the stars from this legendary Championship team. Charles Comiskey is the only Hall of Famer in this highly sought-after Old Judge subset. Presented is an attractive example of this key Old Judge. No creases or wrinkles, and four strong, square corners displaying light touches of even wear. Light discoloration on front and back relating to its age and not due to any foreign-substance staining. Some lightness to the photo. Clean reverse with only a pen notation (obviously from an advanced old-time collector of note, and we recognize the writing but don't recall which old-time collection this card originates from but perhaps a reader can help!) reading "Goodwin, List 1, #14" in the top center. This notation is responsible for the MK qualifier. The Brown's Champions set has always been among the most distinctive and popular of all Old Judges, and Comiskey is unquestionably the key card in the series. Reserve $400. Estimate $800+. SOLD FOR $948
