1952 Royal Desserts Premiums PSA-Graded Complete Set (16) - #1 PSA Set Registry (8.12 GPA)

Starting Bid - $500, Sold For - $1,778

Complete ultra-high grade set of sixteen 1952 Royal Desserts Premiums entirely graded by PSA and ranked number one on the PSA Set Registry with a remarkable 8.12 GPA. From 1950 to 1952, Royal Desserts issued package-design cards on the back of boxes of their dessert products. In the final year of their distribution, the company also issued this special larger-style premium set. Each card measures 5 by 7 inches. The premiums feature a selection of stars of the day in black-and-white poses along with the salutation "To A Royal Fan" followed by the player's facsimile signature. The set is particularly striking, despite the absence of color, and is highlighted by the inclusion of five Hall of Famers. The offered set is particularly exceptional. It is virtually unimprovable as fifteen of the sixteen cards are the highest-graded examples (Robinson has one higher). Additionally, all but one card are the only examples graded at their respective level (Brissie is one of two). PSA Grading Composite: One GEM MINT 10: Fain. Three MINT 9: Blackwell, Pafko, and Spahn (HOF). Four NM-MT+ 8.5: Kell (HOF), Musial (HOF), Scarborough, and Thomson. Five NM-MT 8: Dark, DiMaggio, Reese (HOF), Seminick, and Sisler. One NM+ 7.5: Rizzuto (HOF). One EX 5: Brissie. One VG-EX 4: Robinson. These premiums are often found in modest condition as they are printed on a thin stock with a glossy surface which is prone to light surface wrinkles or creasing. This is an incredible ulra high-grade set, perhaps the finest ever assembled, of this striking 1950s food issue. Total: 16 cards. Reserve $500. Estimate (open). SOLD FOR $1,778
