Starting Bid - $500, Sold For - $3,555
37% Ex (including a few better), 42% Vg-Ex, 14% Vg, and 7% lesser. This is a very attractive, clean, and bright technically mid-grade complete set of the classic 1955 Topps issue. Highlighted by the rookie cards of Sandy Koufax and Roberto Clemente, the 1955 Topps features many additional key star cards, including Ted Williams and Willie Mays. Four cards are graded by PSA (all submitted by REA except for Clemente). Keys: #1 Rhodes (Gd), 2 Williams (Fr), 4 Kaline (Ex), 28 Banks (Ex), 31 Spahn (Vg), 47 Aaron (Ex), 50 Robinson (rejected by PSA for evidence of trimming, otherwise Ex+), 100 Irvin (miscut, Gd/Vg), 120 Kluszewski (NM 7), 123 Koufax RC (VG-EX 4 [MC]), 124 Killebrew RC (Gd+), 125 Boyer RC (Vg+), 152 Agganis RC (Vg), 155 Mathews (Vg), 164 Clemente (EX+ 5.5), 187 Hodges (Ex), 189 Rizzuto (Vg-Ex), 194 Mays (VG-EX 4), 198 Berra (Vg-Ex), and 210 Snider (Fr). This set is bright and crisp throughout with minor technical flaws, such as corner wear or light wrinkles and creases, accounting for the modest assigned grades. Affordable, attractive mid-grade sets of classic issues from the 1950s such as this are not easy to find and because they represent such an outstanding value always generate tremendous collector interest. Total: 206 cards. Reserve $500. Estimate $1,000/$2,000. SOLD FOR $3,555
