1888 N28 Allen & Ginter Jack Glasscock SGC NM/MT+ 92 - Highest Graded!
Starting Bid - $500, Sold For - $2,015
Graded NM/MT+ 92 by SGC. This is the ONLY example graded at this level with none higher by SGC! Stunning ultra high-grade example of nineteenth-century star Jack Glasscock from the N28 Allen & Ginter "World's Champions" set. N28 Allen & Ginter "World's Champions" are considered by many to be the most beautiful of all nineteenth-century tobacco-card issues. The offered example is bright, crisp, and clean, with a striking image and vibrant colors. Four strong corners with tiny touches of wear visible at the extreme tips under close inspection. Light chipping is visible along the right and bottom edges. The checklist reverse is bright and clean with no evidence of paper loss, residue, or toning. This card is encapsulated in a first-generation SGC holder, dating to the early days of the company in 1998-1999, and no guarantees can be made that it would receive the same grade from SGC (or PSA) if resubmitted as grading standards have evolved over the years. Only four examples (of any subject) have ever achieved the grade of NM/MT+ according to the SGC Population Report, and no cards have ever graded MINT or GEM MINT out of the 919 cards evaluated by SGC to date. This is a very attractive example, in unparalleled NM/MT+ condition, of this classic card from one of nineteenth-century card-collecting's most popular sets. Reserve $500. Estimate $1,000/$2,000.
