1957 Topps Near-Complete Set (400/407)

Starting Bid - $400, Sold For - $2,963

61% Ex (including a few Ex-Mt), 32% Vg-Ex, and 7% Vg (including a few lesser). Outstanding mid-grade near-complete set consisting of 400 (out of 407) 1957 Topps cards. Missing only #212 Colavito RC, 275 Indians Team, 286 Richardson RC, 312 Kubek RC, 322 Reds Team, 324 Dodgers Team, and 328 B. Robinson RC for completion. 1957 Topps has always been very popular due to its classic photographic style and inclusion of so many stars. This is a particularly clean near-complete set. Many of the lesser-graded cards are downgraded solely due to light wear at the corners but present with strong colors and a better appearance otherwise. Keys: #1 T. Williams (pencil on front, otherwise Vg), 2 Berra (Vg+), 7 Aparicio (Vg), 10 Mays (Vg-Ex+), 15 Roberts (Ex), 18 Drysdale RC (Ex), 20 Aaron (Ex), 24 Mazeroski RC (Ex+), 25 Ford (Ex), 30 Reese (Vg-Ex+), 35 F. Robinson RC (5/95 L/R, otherwise Ex+), 38 Fox (Ex), 40 Wynn (Gd/Vg), 55 Banks (slight miscut, otherwise Ex), 62 Martin (Vg-Ex), 70 Ashburn (Vg-Ex+), 76 Clemente (Vg), 80 Hodges (Pr), 85 Doby (Vg-Ex+), 90 Spahn (Ex+), 95 Mantle (Ex), 97 Yankees Team (Ex), 120 Lemon (Ex), 125 Kaline (Ex), 154 Schoendienst (Ex), 165 Kluszewski (Ex), 170 Snider (Ex), 203 Wilhelm (Vg-Ex), 210 Campanella (Ex), 215 Slaughter (Ex), 230 Kell (Ex), 250 Mathews (Vg-Ex), 302 Koufax (Ex+), 338 Bunning RC (Ex), 400 Dodgers' Sluggers (Ex+), and 407 Mantle/Berra (Vg-Ex+). This is the type of 1950s set that is always sought after as it represents such an outstanding collecting value compared to the cost of these cards in higher grade, while sacrificing little in the way of appearance. This is a very attractive and consistent mid-grade near-complete set of 1957 Topps, one of the most popular and classic of all baseball-card sets. Total: 400 cards. Reserve $400. Estimate $1,000+.
