1951 Topps Teams Brooklyn Dodgers PSA NM 7
Starting Bid - $500, Sold For - $1,304
Graded NM 7 by PSA. Exceptionally attractive and ultra high-grade example of the Brooklyn Dodgers (undated) from the Topps Teams issue. One of only three graded at this level with two higher. Issued by Topps in its first year of producing baseball cards, these team cards were issued at the same time as the stand-up Connie Mack's All Stars and Current All Stars, as well as the 1951 Topps Red and Blue back sets. The Topps Teams set is very significant and scarce and has been very much overlooked by collectors in recent years, perhaps because of its unusual dimensions and the fact that examples in extremely high grade are so rare. The offered card of the Brooklyn Dodgers is especially desirable as it includes four Hall of Famers (Jackie Robinson, Duke Snider, Pee Wee Reese, and Roy Campanella) as well as several other non-Hall of Fame stars, such as Gil Hodges and Carl Erskine, who remain very popular with collectors. Bright and crisp with four strong corners, flawless yellow borders, and centered to the top (perhaps all that keeps this card from a higher grade). Clean reverse with a small, unobtrusive stray print line (mentioned strictly for the sake of accuracy). This is an extraordinary example which has survived in tremendous high grade and would make an outstanding addition to any Brooklyn Dodgers, Topps, or sample-card collection. Reserve $500. Estimate $1,000+. SOLD FOR $1,304
