1948 Leaf #3 Babe Ruth

Starting Bid - $200, Sold For - $1,185

Graded VG-EX 4 by PSA. Presented is a very attractive mid-grade example of this Babe Ruth classic. The 1948 Leaf Bubble Gum card of Ruth is one of the most popular and striking of all Babe Ruth cards. It is on virtually every short list of the most classic and recognizable of all postwar baseball cards. The offered card is crisp and clean, with off-white borders framing a virtually flawless image which is centered just a touch to the bottom. Light wear is present on each of the four corners. A small vertical crease (most noticeable from the reverse) extending through the "t" in Ruth to the top of his shoulder and light, unobtrusive wrinkling at the left edge of the card account for the assigned technical grade. The reverse is clean with only a tiny spot of faded print near the area of the crease. This is a very attractive yet relatively affordable (compared to what this card would sell for in higher grade) example of one of the icons of postwar-card collecting. Reserve $200. Estimate $400+. SOLD FOR $1,185
