1932 Abdulla Co. "Sport Records" #196 Babe Ruth

Starting Bid - $300, Sold For - $2,133

Graded EX 60 by SGC (submitted by REA). This is the only example graded at this level with just three higher by SGC. This card is from a multisport set issued in Germany which includes 200 different subjects. Ruth is the only representative of baseball. The sepia-toned card features a striking image of Ruth leaning against his bat in his New York Yankees uniform. This is an exceptionally strong example that presents as NM-MT! Perfect contrast, four sharp corners, and excellent centering (approximately 40/60 L/R and 55/45 T/B). The reverse is boldly printed with German text. Downgraded due to extremely light (almost imperceptible) impressions consistent with having been placed in corner mounts at some point in time. Only twenty examples of this fascinating and striking vintage card have been graded by PSA and SGC combined. This is an ultra high-grade example of this unusual Babe Ruth card, which would make an outstanding addition to any Babe Ruth, New York Yankees, or foreign-card collection. Reserve $300. Estimate $500+. SOLD FOR $2,133
