1933 R319 Goudey #53 Babe Ruth

Starting Bid - $500, Sold For - $2,133

Graded VG 3 by PSA. Attractive mid-grade example of one of Babe Ruth’s most classic cards: #53 with yellow background from the 1933 Goudey series. The "yellow background" pose of Babe Ruth is, without a doubt, his most difficult to obtain and sought-after card in the 1933 Goudey set. Clean and crisp card, with even wear to all four corners, and centered to the bottom. Downgraded due to a small surface abrasion extending from Ruth's chin to the right border, which has caused a small area of paper loss. A one-inch long vertical crease is also present extending from the bottom border through "Chewing Gum." Boldly printed reverse. Excellent opportunity to acquire one of Babe Ruth's most classic cards from the popular 1933 Goudey Gum series and one of card-collecting's iconic cards at a fraction of the cost of a higher-graded example. The equivalent SMR value in the assigned grade is $2,350. Reserve $500. Estimate $1,000/$1,500+. SOLD FOR $2,133
