1921 W516-2-1 Near-Complete Set Including Two Babe Ruth and Two Ty Cobb (24/30, Plus Two Duplicates)

Starting Bid - $300, Sold For - $1,541

Near-complete set of 1921 W516-2-1 strip cards consisting of twenty-four different of the thirty cards in the set (plus two duplicates, for a total of twenty-six cards), highlighted by fifteen Hall of Famers and one "Black Sox" member, including two Babe Ruths, two Ty Cobbs, Christy Mathewson, and Walter Johnson. Missing just six common cards for completion (#13, 16, 17, 18, 19, and 23). We have selected three cards to be encapsulated by SGC. Keys (all have the top border trimmed off unless otherwise noted): #2 Alexander, 3 Johnson (irregular cut along left edge), 4 Hornsby, two 5 Ty Cobb (Gd and top border trimmed off), 6 Speaker, 7 Schalk, two 10 Babe Ruth (both SGC "Authentic"), 21 Bancroft, 22 Roush, 24 Hooper, 25 Kelly, 27 Mathewson (SGC "Authentic"), 28 Collins, and 30 Cicotte ("Black Sox", Ex-Mt). The balance of the cards grade as follows: Five Ex-Mt, one Vg-Ex, one Gd, two with top border trimmed off, and one with lower right corner clipped. Note: The grades provided are not intended to imply potential PSA or SGC grades. Strip cards are almost always encapsulated as "Authentic" by grading companies due to their slightly imperfect cuts. This is a very attractive near set of these classic 1920s cards. Total: 26 cards. Reserve $300. Estimate $500+. SOLD FOR $1,541
