1927 E126 American Caramel "Series of 60" Babe Ruth
Starting Bid - $800, Sold For - $5,036
Graded VG 40 by SGC. Only one example graded higher by SGC. Extremely rare caramel card of #38 Babe Ruth from the 1927 E126 American Caramel set. This set is of special note as it was produced in the final year that the American Caramel Company issued cards. It is also of special note as being issued in 1927, as well as being an extremely rare card. Significantly fewer examples from the E126 set are offered compared to the earlier sets produced by American Caramel. This card of Babe Ruth is naturally the key to the set and features a striking montage of two Ruth images with a posed photo of Ruth holding a bat superimposed in front of a larger portrait of the Babe. The offered example is extremely crisp and clean. Centered to the bottom, the card displays honest wear to the four corners, including a light crease in each of the top and bottom right corners (which is very common with this issue in general due to its thin stock). Entirely clean, front and back, with a boldly printed promotional offer and advertisement on the reverse. This is an outstanding example of this rare and extremely high quality Ruth caramel-card dating from the magic year of 1927. Reserve $800. Estimate $1,500/$2,500. SOLD FOR $5,036
