1920 W519-1 #5 Babe Ruth - Highest Graded!

Starting Bid - $200, Sold For - $4,444

Graded VG 40 by SGC. This is the ONLY example graded at this level with none higher! Extremely attractive #5 Babe Ruth from the W519-1 strip-card series. The card features Babe Ruth in a smiling portrait, New York Yankees cap visible, set against a light purple background. SGC has only graded eleven examples of this card, eight of which grade "Authentic," as is common for strip cards, which were intended to be cut by hand and are often found with irregular borders. The offered card is crisp and clean with a strong image, even wear to the four corners (a small, upper right corner bend is visible), and centering slightly to the bottom. The blank reverse is entirely clean. This is a very attractive and high grade (for this issue) example of Ruth which would make an outstanding addition to any Babe Ruth, prewar, or strip-card collection. Reserve $200. Estimate $400+. SOLD FOR $4,444
