1914 E145 Cracker Jack #30 Ty Cobb SGC EX/NM 80

Starting Bid - $2,500, Sold For - $26,663

Graded EX/NM 80 by SGC. This is the only example graded at this level with just one higher out of forty-eight total examples evaluated to date in the history of SGC! Extraordinary high-grade example of #30 Ty Cobb from the classic 1914 Cracker Jack series. It is rare to find any 1914 Cracker Jack in such high grade, let alone such a stunning high-grade example of Ty Cobb. This card is universally recognized as one of card collecting's great classics, and one of Ty Cobb's most desirable and striking cards. 1914 Cracker Jacks are naturally much more difficult to find in high grade than their 1915 counterparts because the 1914 #144 series cards were only issued in boxes of Cracker Jack, while the 1915 set could be obtained as a factory set directly from the company by mail. Cobb is featured on this card in a batting pose set against a deep red background. Bright and crisp, both front and back, with virtually no caramel staining present except for the faintest traces in each of the two bottom corners. 1914 Cracker Jacks, of course, are almost always found with serious caramel staining, but this example is simply magnificent in all respects. It has outstanding color, an extremely bold red background, near-perfect centering, and four square corners showing just the slightest hint of even wear. This is a very rarely offered and ideal high-grade example of the most important of all Cracker Jack or Ty Cobb cards, and one that would be a significant highlight in any world-class collection of 1914 Cracker Jack, Ty Cobb, or classic vintage baseball cards. The equivalent SMR value is $14,500. Reserve $2,500. Estimate $5,000/$10,000+. SOLD FOR $26,663
