1889 N29 Allen & Ginter Buck Ewing PSA EX-MT 6

Starting Bid - $500, Sold For - $2,666

Graded EX-MT 6 by PSA (submitted by REA). Only six examples have ever been graded at this level by PSA. This is a very attractive high-grade example of Hall of Famer Buck Ewing from the 1889 N29 Allen & Ginter Second Series World Champions set. Ewing is the key card and the only Hall of Famer in the N29 set. The card is bright and clean, both front and back, with just a sliver of a light discoloration (extremely minor, of no consequence) in the upper right corner keeping it from an even higher grade. Ewing's perfectly focused portrait stands out brilliantly against the white background. The registration is flawless. When this card was purchased by our consignor, in the days prior to professional grading, it was described as NM-MT. It is rare to find any nineteenth-century card in high grade, let alone one of the era's most classic cards of such a prominent Hall of Famer. The N29 Buck Ewing is one of the most famous of all nineteenth-century baseball cards and is widely recognized as one of Buck Ewing's most important cards. SMR is $2,350. Reserve $500. Estimate $1,000/$2,000. SOLD FOR $2,666
