Lot # 497 (of 1866)   < Previous Lot | Next Lot >

1911 "Big Eater" Sacramento Solons PCL Jimmy Lewis

Starting Bid - $300, Sold For - $1,896

Graded VG 40 by SGC. Extremely rare sample card (2-1/8 x 4 inches) from this unusual Pacific Coast League issue. "Big Eaters" feature full-length poses of members of the Sacramento Solons. Beneath the identification of each player and his team is the endorsement "He Eats 'Big Eater'." It is believed that "Big Eater" was a brand of candy. This is an extremely attractive example with even wear to the corners and only two faint creases (visible only from the reverse) accounting for the technical grade on this very pleasing sample card from one of the rarest of all PCL issues. Reserve $300. Estimate $500+. SOLD FOR $1,896
