1914 Chicago Federal League Postcard with Joe Tinker
Starting Bid - $200, Sold For - $1,067
Rare large-format postcard featuring a team photo of the 1914 Chicago Feds. Encapsulated and graded VG 40 by SGC. Twenty-three team members are pictured posing together in uniform, including player/manager Joe Tinker, Dutch Zwilling, and Art Wilson. The caption "Chicago Federal League Base Ball Club of 1914" is lettered across the top and each of the players is identified in print along the base. All items relating to the short-lived Federal League (1914-1915) are rare and this piece is no exception. This is the first example of this particular postcard we have ever handled, and we cannot recall the last time we have seen another. The postcard (6.75 x 4.5 inches) bears no writing on the reverse and has not been mailed. General wear is evident along all four corners, including a minor crease in the lower right, and with extremely minor foxing on the front and reverse. This is an extremely rare postcard commemorating Chicago's historic first-year entry in the Federal League that has particularly outstanding display value. Reserve $200. Estimate (open).
