1909 to 1950 Cuban Baseball Card Collection (7) Including Aguilitas, Billiken, and Cabanas
Starting Bid - $400, Sold For - $2,370
Exceptional collection of seven type cards from various Cuban issues spanning the years 1909 to 1950. Each card in this assembly is in outstanding high grade, a particularly remarkable achievement for Cuban cards, which are so often found in lesser grades due to the frequency with which they were housed in albums. All cards are graded by SGC (except for one PSA as noted). This collection consists of the following: 1) 1909 Cabanas: Charles O'Leary (EX/NM 80, 1 of 1, none higher). 2) 1915 Susini: #201 Baseball (VG/EX 50, 1 of 1, none higher). 3) 1923-1924 Billiken: Eugenio Morin (EX+ 70, 1 of 1, one higher). 4) 1924 Diaz Cigarettes: #10 Urban Faber (HOF, only PSA-graded example). 5) 1924-1925 Aguilitas: #858 Isidro Fabre (NM 84, 1 of 1, highest graded). 6) 1928 Aguilitas Advertising Postcard: Base Ball Universidad Jr. (GOOD 30 due to upper right corner crease, otherwise Ex, 1 of 1, highest graded). 7) 1950-1951 Toleteros In Action: #176 Llego Tarde El Hombre Ese (EX/NM 80, 1 of 1, two higher). This small but very strong grouping of cards representing these important and popular Cuban issues, was assembled one card at a time by a dedicated collector who searched for ideal examples, and would offer outstanding additions to any sample or Cuban-card collection. Total: 7 cards. Reserve $400. Estimate $1,000+. SOLD FOR $2,370
