Thirty-four cards have been professionally graded (twenty-three PSA, nine SGC, one BVG, and one ISA). The cards feature predominantly Piedmont or Sweet Caporal advertising reverses but do include five Old Mill, five Polar Bear, two Sovereign, two Tolstoi, and one Cycle. Grading Composite: EX-MT 6 (2 cards): Howell/hand at waist (MC) and Wilson (SGC EX/NM 80). EX 5 (3 cards): Leach/bending over (SGC EX 60), M. Mitchell, and Nattress (SGC EX 60). VG-EX+ 4.5 (1 card): Wiltse/pitching. VG-EX 4 (6 cards): Abbaticchio/blue sleeves, Abbaticchio/brown sleeves, Abstein, Camnitz/hands over head (Old Mill), J. Tannehill (Old Mill), and Unglaub. Authentic (5 cards): Chase/white cap, Clymer, P. Graham, I. Hoffman, and McGinley. The balance of the cards grade eight Gd to Vg and the rest lesser. Keys: Bastian (Southern Leaguer, Pr), Clarke/bat (HOF, Pr), Kelley (HOF, Fr), and Orth (Southern Leaguer, trimmed). This lot is ideal for the collector who wants real, original circa 1910 tobacco cards which capture the spirit of the history of the game and collecting, but does not want to spend a fortune. The SMR value for just twenty-eight of the graded cards (not including the five cards graded "Authentic" and the one qualified card, and also not including the additional forty-nine ungraded cards!) is $1,682. Total: 77 cards. Reserve $500. Estimate $1,000++. SOLD FOR $2,252
