1909-1911 T206 Clark Griffith Batting - Rare Piedmont "Factory 42" Back

Starting Bid - $200, Sold For - $830

Presented is an extremely attractive example of Clark Griffith/batting featuring a desirable Piedmont "Factory 42" designation on the reverse. This card originates from an old-time collection of T206s (as do the other two "Factory 42" cards offered in this auction) and is offered individually due to its rarity. Graded VG 40 by SGC (submitted by REA), this example is bright and crisp, presenting as Excellent on the front with four strong corners (there is a small bend at the tip of the lower right corner), bold colors, and centered to the upper left. There is a small scratch in the lower left corner. The back displays extremely light glue residue from storage in an album at some point. The important factory line is entirely clean. This is a superb card, ideally depicting a Hall of Famer, featuring this very scarce T206 advertising back, ranked as the twelfth most difficult (out of thirty-nine) within the set by Reserve $200. Estimate (open). SOLD FOR $830
