1909-1911 T206 Chicago Cubs Hall of Fame Collection (4) Including Highest-Graded EPDG Evers Portrait!

Starting Bid - $500, Sold For - $3,259

Exceptional collection of four Chicago Cubs Hall of Famers from the legendary T206 White Border series, highlighted by the highest-graded example of Johnny Evers (portrait pose) with the scarce and desirable El Principe de Gales advertising reverse. Each card is professionally graded and encapsulated by PSA (all submitted by REA). This collection consists of the following: 1) Frank Chance/batting (EX 5, Sweet Caporal reverse, near-perfect centering, bold colors, light wrinkle on reverse, and small chip of paper loss in upper right reverse corner); 2) Frank Chance/portrait-red (EX-MT 6, Piedmont reverse, centered to the top, vibrant colors, sharp corners, clean and crisp, front and back); 3) Frank Chance/portrait-yellow (EX 5, Old Mill reverse, centered slightly to the bottom, vibrant colors, strong corners, clean reverse); and 4) Johnny Evers/portrait (EX 5, El Principe de Gales reverse, highest-graded example, excellent centering, bold colors, crisp image, strong corners, clean reverse). We were delighted to find this El Principe de Gales back (along with nineteen additional EPDG backs that are presented as a separate lot) in a consigned collection of hundreds of T206s that was assembled in the 1990s. This is an extraordinarily attractive collection of four T206 Hall of Famers, each far stronger in appearance than one might expect from "mid-grade" examples, which would make outstanding additions to any Chicago Cubs, Hall of Fame, or T206 collection. The total SMR value is $1,930 (not factoring in any premium for the scarce EPDG reverse). Total: 4 cards. Reserve $500. Estimate $1,000/$1,500+. SOLD FOR $3,259
