1909-1911 T206 White Border PSA-Graded Hall of Fame Collection (19)

Starting Bid - $1,000, Sold For - $4,444

Collection of eighteen different (plus one duplicate) Hall of Famers from the iconic T206 White Border set. This collection represents almost one-quarter of all the Hall of Famers in the complete set (seventy-six in total). Each card is graded and encapsulated as "Authentic" by PSA (all submitted by REA) due to evidence of trimming (two cards have simply been deemed altered). When our consignor purchased these cards in the 1980s and 1990s, before the rise in popularity of professional grading, they were described as Near Mint or better. All cards have Piedmont or Sweet Caporal advertisements on reverse unless otherwise noted. This collection consists of the following: Brown/Cubs, Chance/portrait, E. Collins, Griffith/batting (Old Mill), Griffith/portrait (altered), Johnson/hands at chest, Johnson/portrait, Keeler/with bat, Kelley, Lajoie/with bat, Mathewson/dark cap, McGraw/portrait with cap (Old Mill), McGraw/portrait no cap, Speaker, Tinker/portrait (El Principe de Gales), Tinker/bat on (Old Mill), two Wallace, and Young/portrait (altered). This is an extremely attractive collection of cards, many of which display evidence of trimming only under close examination and otherwise present as Excellent to Near Mint. This is an impressive looking group of cards, and represents a rare opportunity to acquire extremely attractive examples of these classic T206 Hall of Famers at a fraction of the cost of numerically graded cards with similar tremendous eye-appeal. Total: 19 cards. Reserve $1,000. Estimate (open). SOLD FOR $4,444
