1909-1911 T206 Josh Devore - First Confirmed Example with Old Mill Back!

Starting Bid - $200, Sold For - $1,659

Presented is an extremely significant T206 example of Josh Devore featuring an Old Mill advertising reverse. While at first glance the offered card might appear to be nothing more than a regular T206 with a slightly scarce advertising reverse, it is actually extraordinarily noteworthy. It is the first and only example confirmed to exist with an Old Mill back as reflected in either the PSA and SGC Population Reports. (Note: we have become aware of the existence of one other example which has never been graded). The T206 set, affectionately known as "The Monster," is the most popular of all 1910-era sets and is still yielding new and exciting discoveries more than a century after its production. Thanks to the comprehensive cataloging and research undertaken by many T206 scholars and presented on T206Resource.com, collectors have a better idea of all the possible front and back combinations which comprise a master set. Encapsulated by PSA as "Authentic" due to trimming along the top and bottom borders, the card presents with bold colors, a crisp image, and light, unobtrusive wear to the surface. The important reverse is almost entirely clean with only a few light age spots (mentioned strictly for the sake of accuracy). This example of Josh Devore, which was discovered in an old-time collection, will be of special note and interest to master-set collectors as an extraordinarily rare T206 front-back combination. When one considers that PSA and SGC have graded more than 255,000 T206s combined in the approximately two decades of professional grading, the fact that the offered card is the only example to have ever been graded (and one of only two in existence as far as we know) is truly remarkable. Reserve $200. Estimate (open). SOLD FOR $1,659
