1909-1911 T206 White Border SGC EX 60 Collection (34)
Starting Bid - $1,000, Sold For - $4,444
Collection of thirty-one different (plus three duplicates) T206 White Border tobacco cards, each encapsulated and graded EX 60 by SGC (plus three EX+ 70). All cards in this collection were hand-picked by REA from a very large collection (of over 1,000 T206s) that was carefully assembled with an eye for quality in the early days of the hobby, and all were submitted for grading by REA. The collection is highlighted by particularly strong examples of Hal Chase/dark cap and Chick Gandil (Black Sox). All have Piedmont or Sweet Caporal advertisements on back unless otherwise noted. The collection consists of the following: Alperman, Atz, Blackburne, Bridwell/port. with cap, Chase/dark cap, H. Davis/Davis on front (EX+ 70, Old Mill), Dygert, Gandil, Ganzel, Geyer, Grimshaw, Hemphill, Hunter, Karger, Killian/pitching, Krause/pitching, Manning/batting, McIntyre/Brooklyn & Chicago, M. McIntyre, two Milligan, Mowrey, Oberlin, Phillippe, Randall, Schaefer/Washington (Old Mill), two Scott (one Old Mill), Smith/F. Smith on front, Snodgrass/batting, Stahl/no glove, two Warhop, and Wiltse/pitching. Each card displays bold colors, excellent centering, and strong corners. This is an exceptionally strong group that could serve as a foundation for a high-quality T206 collection, or make a significant addition to the building of an extremely high-quality set. The equivalent SMR value for the assigned grades (factoring in the three half grades at the lower whole-grade level) is $4,925. Total: 34 cards. Reserve $1,000. Estimate $2,500++. SOLD FOR $4,444
