1912 T202 Hassan Triple Folder SGC-Graded Collection (4)

Starting Bid - $200, Sold For - $948

Collection of four different cards from the T202 Hassan Triple Folder series, each professionally graded and encapsulated by SGC (submitted by REA). T202s are universally recognized as one of the premier tobacco-card sets of the era and are noted for their central baseball scenes and colorful player portraits. This collection consists of the following (cards are identified by the numbers provided by the Standard Catalog of Baseball Cards checklist): #27 Chase Guarding First (EX/NM 80, Gibson/Clarke, HOF), 34 Close at the Plate (VG/EX+ 55, Payne/Ed Walsh, HOF), 105 Speaker Almost Caught (EX 60, Miller/Fred Clarke, HOF), and 114 Tenney Lands Safely (EX 60, Raymond/Latham). This is an extremely attractive collection of T202s, purchased ungraded by our consignor in the 1980s (at that time described as Nr/Mt-Mt), each of which presents at a level far better than suggested by its assigned grade. The equivalent SMR value for these four cards is $1,290. Total: 4 cards. Reserve $200. Estimate $500+. SOLD FOR $948
